In the spring of 2007, the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM 2007) came into force in mainland UK with the key aim of integrating health and safety into the management of construction projects.
The Association for Project Safety (APS) who already produced Reference Guides and Performance Standards for its members operating in the area of Construction Health and Safety Risk Management, is now pleased to offer the facility for professional individuals in Full Membership of APS to demonstrate their understanding of Best Practice in Construction Health and Safety Risk Management by applying for inclusion on an APS Register.
Registration is achieved by satisfactorily demonstrating competency in and understanding of the area relevant to the respective Registers. APS is committed to regularly reviewing the standards of the Registers and to amend and continuously improve the schemes over time. This focus on continuous improvement is enshrined in the documented processes of the Registers.
APS Registers are referenced within the Approved Code of Practice of the Construction Design and Management Regulations 2007.
In addition to individual Registers, APS offers Practice Registers for Practices who wish to prove their operating practices and working methods to be compliant with CDM 2007.
APS’ Registers are the result of consultation with many parties and are based on best practice systems. APS acknowledges the support of BSi and its membership in the development of the registers.
It is intended that APS’ Registers will become industry standards and a model of best practice in the Construction Industry and I commend them to you.
