Course - The Management of CDM Co-ordination
This course is aimed at those within the construction industry who wish to practice as CDM Co-ordinators and manage the requirements of CDM Co-ordination to a professional and benchmarked standard set by APS. The course will benefit those who may have considerable experience as CDM Co-ordinators and who wish to check their standard of practice and to have it acknowledged.
The full benefit of CDM can only be realised by meeting the philosophy implied within CDM that requires that the CDM Co-ordinator is a proactive and fully integrated member of the project team.
In order to achieve that objective, the course deals with all aspects of CDM Co-ordination management including:
- the CDM Co-ordination process
- providing the service
- procurement issues as well as the legal aspects
- implications with outcomes required to be met for each syllabus component based on one or more of the following: “awareness of; knowledge of; understanding of’; ability to”
Those who wish to undertake the course should be familiar with and have knowledge of construction health and safety risk management including:
- H&S Law and frameworks
- CDM and other relevant construction related health and safety Regulations
- How the construction industry is organised including different forms of procurement and contracts
- Typical duty holder roles and responsibilities as they apply within CDM and other regulation and contract conditions
Membership Exemptions
An individual who successfully completes the accredited course in The Management of CDM Co-ordination may claim points as allocated in the Qualifications and Experience table towards meeting Full Membership of APS.
An individual who meets the above criteria will also be exempt from sitting the Examination for admission to the APS Register of CDM Co-ordinators for a period of three months from the date on which APS issues a certificate confirming successful completion of an accredited course.
A copy of the certificate must be included with an application.
Course: Design Risk Management and CDM 2007 for Designers
This course is aimed at those Designers within the construction industry who wish to practice as Design Risk Managers and manage the requirements of Design Risk Management and CDM 2007 for Designers to a professional and benchmarked standard as set by APS. The course will also benefit those who may have considerable experience as Designers but who wish to check their standard of practice and have it acknowledged. Much of what is covered in the course is applicable to Design Risk Management in terms of CDM 2007 but also as APS understands the requirements proposed in the amended CDM 2007 regulations.
APS believes that the full benefit of CDM 2007 can only achieved by meeting the philosophy implied within CDM 2007 that requires that Design Risk Manager is a proactive and fully integrated member of the project team.
In order to achieve that objective, the course deals with all aspects of Design Risk management including:-
- the process,
- providing the service,
- procurement issues as well as the legal aspects;
- implications with outcomes required to be met for each performance specification component based on one or more of the following: “awareness of; knowledge of; understanding of and ability to”.
Those who wish to undertake the course should be familiar with and have knowledge of the construction industry and construction health and safety which is deemed to include:-
- H&S Law and frameworks;
- CDM 2007 and other relevant construction related health and safety Regulations;
- How the Construction Industry basically is organised and works including different forms of procurement and contracts; and
- Various typical duty holder roles and responsibilities as they apply within CDM 2007 the new ACoP and other regulation and contract conditions.
