Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
The objective of the APS CPD Scheme is to assist APS Members in keeping up to date with modern best practice in Construction Health and Safety Risk Management and in particular in maintaining their competency in terms of the CDM 2007 Regulations.
The scheme is a points system, where CPD points are achieved for relevant activity, education or personnel development.
A Member is required to achieve a minimum of 24 points per annum of which up to 6 may be self-directed.
Points may be claimed for relevant CPD undertaken in connection with a Member’s principal discipline.
Amongst the recognised activities are:
- Attendance at seminars.
- Self-certified reading.
- Preparation of seminars.
- Question and Answer Sheets (Q/As) with every Practice Note and National CPD seminar.
Full details are available at the "CPD & Education" Section of the website.
Monitoring
The APS CPD Scheme is currently one of self certification with Members required to record their own CPD.
APS will monitor compliance by inviting Members, selected at random, to submit their CPD record.
Non compliance
If CPD observance cannot be adequately demonstrated, membership status may be subject to review and subsequently may be reduced to Associate. Membership may be reinstated following proof of remedial action within 3 months and may be subject to an administration fee.
